#035 - Quickwrite Madness
Hello everybody! I wasn't able to get more help on the animation today, but based on yesterday's discussions, I was able to finish Quickwrite #19 of my latest book today. #18 remained half-written for over a year and #19 was intentionally left blank for padding. Currently, all the way through #28 has been completed. I'm finally starting to get the feels again for writing the story now that A CERTAIN SOMEONE ACTUALLY IS WRITING AGAIN. Ahem, my throat has been cleared. I'm thinking it'll still be at least three more weeks though until he's caught up, so we shall see how much writing I actually do until then. As of write now (get it, because it's the QuickWRITE [ha, ha, I'm so funny {no, not really}]) I'll be doing #19.5 because I already have #20 written but it also serves as an extra. It'll be sure to include the Word of the Week, the life principle, and spend time with characters that so far have not really been included. I want to spend more time with them so that the reader builds a good connection with them. This way, when things get intense later, the reader actually cares about the people. It's hard to care for people you don't spend time with.
Other than finishing the Quickwrite today, I worked a lot more on game development this morning. I'm really hoping to get Indev level loading- at least the world blocks- into Boxel Voxels. I also have a new plan for chunk loading, but I want to work on Indev loading first. I also for sure plan on at least doubling the blocks currently implemented as well. This will put me at around ID 64. Seeing as Indev only used up through #62, I think I'll be fine... Other than all wool blocks being turned into the IDs of whatever was used in 1.12.2... It's fine though. As of today, I am pretty close. I need to finish up with extracting the dimensions of the world and being able to reconstruct it. Good thing that the blocks are saved as an array and then just fill up line by line until the world is built. This will make things easy to incorporate because standard chunks are built pretty much the same way. I'll just need to add another subsystem specifically for handling the loading of an Indev world. Will I also do Classic the same way? It depends on if I can get the format converted to JSON.
In addition to my usual stream, I started Alan Wake and completed the first episode. I am indeed liking it so far and look forward to playing through it all. Thank you all for reading. Bye!
