#133 - He Was Back
Hello everybody! I'm currently going through the extras of Look Who's Back, but because only the movie had English subtitles, I figured I might as well work on a new post while the deleted and extended(?) scenes are playing. There are about 51 minutes, it would seem, so we shall see how far I get on writing before they end.
Anyway, it's about time I catch y'all up on the Caleb and Sophia saga... (I say, then immediately have flashbacks to A Little Snow Fairy Sugar and Saga, of whom I always called "The Saga Continues" [because that was a shorter name than saying "The Saga of Tanya the Evil {which is a totally unrelated anime}]).
Ahem
When I last mentioned them back in April 2024, I kicked them out of my head because they stopped paying rent. Since then, they have not been allowed to move back in, but they have come around to knock on my door a few times, as you would expect JW children to do. Before then, in February 2024, I last talked about the 47 episodes and Zoey joining the cultist loner group. That last release was the end of another thematic arc. I made rather thorough notes then and continued on with all the new stuff. So in the words of the folks over in The Woodsmen Podcast, let's dive right in.
There are now 51 episodes of the Become Jehovah's Friend series, as I continue to call it Caleb and Sophia like plenty of others (and because it's not the official title, I don't feel obligated to italize it). As what feels like a steady start to another thematic arc, we continue on some more with Zoey's development. We now have her mom getting more involved and we witness some of who her grandmother was. Zoey's grandmother was first mentioned way back in the thirteenth episode, which came out many years ago, alongside Zoey's introduction.
We also learn Zoey's mom is named Camille. It's kind of funny to me that we still don't know the names of Caleb and Sophia's parents. By this point, we are unlikely to ever. Those are the main story points of the four new entries that came out in the past year. There's also a basic lesson with Sophia and a concept that coincides with a previous one involving Caleb.
That's about all the comments I have currently. Seeing as new entries only come out every so often, and since they stopped paying rent in my head, I probably won't have more to add in the future. But if y'all ever want more detailed reviews, I recommend ExJWPandaTower and Owen Morgan (Telltale) over on the Tube.
As an unrelated note, but it turned out I mentioned emailing Lura in past entries. For an update to everyone who is not Lura, I no longer have to email her because she's back on Discord. Hello! When you read this, send me the word "pineapple."
I am also nearing the end of the extras I planned on watching for Look Who's Back. There's only about seven minutes left, which is good for me because it means I was able to wrap up the main topic of this post faster than the extra scenes.
The other stuff I've had going on involves an electric scooter my dad recently purchased. I've been scooting around the neighborhood a bit. The farthest I've gone is three miles to a buddy's house, then the three miles back here. The ride there wasn't so bad, but it was an all-new experience since I hadn't been in that area before on a scooter. The ride back was quite an adventure as well. It was cold, rainy, and late at night. Thankfully, that also means there weren't many cars on the road. It was not the most comfortable experience, but it sure was a cool scenario. It was like I was in a movie!
Progress on my triangle game continues smoothly as well. I was stuck on the ninth story music track for what felt like a long time. In reality, it was only 11 days, but it felt long because most other tracks I could get done in about three days or less. But alas, that is now over... That means I only have to work on the final story level music track. I haven't started yet because I've been tackling the list of other stuff that needed to be done before release, but I'll get that done soon, I hope. It'll be when I want to procrastinate on the final polish of the game, because the final polish is the least amount of fun on any project.
Oop, looks like I'm done with the extra scenes. I still have more to say though.
I was thinking recently about how busy May as a whole is rather busy for me. Yesterday was Mother's Day, tomorrow will be family lunch, the weekend of the 23rd is a bachelor party, the 30th is the birthday of someone important to me, and the 31st is when my YouTube channel turns ten years old. I don't remember if I said recently, but I want to do a ten-hour live stream that day, for ten years of making videos.
I have a lengthy list of activities I want to do during that stream, but we shall see just how many things I get through that day. Ten hours of active participation will also be very tiring. The last time I did a ten-hour stream was when I walked to the Nether Far Lands, and I was only actively participating for the first two streams of that journey!
In more recent news (like, yesterday) I caught up on Jurassic World: Chaos Theory. It is a continuation of the animated for-kids series called Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. Out of the eight total seasons between them, this most recent one is my favorite. Jurassic World: Dominion felt unsatisfactory in some aspects, and ironically, part of that has to do with Camp Cretaceous becoming really popular, which led to changes to Dominion. I say it's ironic because this season of Chaos Theory helped make Dominion a little bit more interesting by providing additional context and worldbuilding. And with how this season ended, there has to be another one, which I hope will further improve Dominion.
In previous news (like, December and January), I got into the game Content Warning with some real-world folks I know. Turns out, I picked it up for free back when it was an April Fool's joke, and this past winter folks I knew seemed to be into it. Truth be told, it is a very fun game, especially with more people. If it's just you, it's a little bit scarier...
I've been collecting the in-game videos recorded and just like how we watch them on a DVD in the game, I want to put them on a physical DVD for here in the real world. I'm nearly done with the video collection; I just want one more session where we have a proper ending to the DVD, since you can only fit so many minutes onto a disc before you sacrifice quality.
I would also hope to rope in other participants, in the event that I collect enough footage to create a sequel DVD. Truth be told, I haven't played Content Warning since March 3rd, but hopefully soon we can have that final session to give the DVD something satisfying to end on and not just "well, that's the end of the disc." We might even record a good DVD opening, but I view the ending as more important.
I think that's it for this post. I thought I was done working on my triangle game today, but I'm starting to get that feeling that I should jump back on it before bed. Therefore, I think I'll go do that. I have currently completed Gaming Mix #534, but because the next entry is another hour-long compilation, I'll listen to it some more later.
And Lura when you make it this far, send me the word "pizza."
Thank you all for reading. Bye!
