#136 - The Champion of Crabs

Hello everybody! If you have read my recent posts, then you would know I've been playing Crab Champions. I eventually finished the big run I was on after getting many achievements and getting nearly all regular items to the max level of 255. Since then, I haven't been playing as much because going back to the start has proven to be difficult for me. -_-

I've also been tackling more of my triangle game. The new planned release timeframe is October, after the upcoming Steam Next Fest. That gives me enough time to set up a business entity and create the Steam store page. I have already done all the capsule artwork and tags, but I still haven't written the literal page description itself. In the meantime, I've been working on the official demo. It will be a dedicated level (with its own menu) since I don't think the first story level works well for a vertical slice.

I also recently played through Five Nights at Freddy's: Into the Pit. It was a pretty good spin-off game, I'd say, up there with FNaF World (ignoring whatever the reception of it was). I also played Secret of the Mimic, which is the 11th main game in the FNaF series. My goshness do I feel old.

No, I don't actually feel old, but I remember when the first game was new, within a couple of months. I've been following the series for over a decade now. There are 11 main games, 2 DLC releases (Sister Location's custom night doesn't count), and 8 official spin-offs. Not to mention the 20 or 30-something books and the movie. Yeah, this is a very dense franchise.

Anyway, I also went back and replayed the original trilogy of games to relive the nostalgia or whatever. I would replay 4 except I never beat 4 to begin with. I personally have always had such difficulty playing it out the entire series because the overall game audio is too quiet, and the jumpscare volume is incredibly loud. I started work on a personal mod of the game that adjusts volume levels, but I would need to find the project setup for that to get going again. I still have Clickteam Fusion 2.5 installed.

Coming up soon is also the 10-year anniversary of the School-Live anime. I started a Minecraft map back in June 2019 that aimed to recreate the city of Megurigaoka that can be seen in the anime with additional inspiration from the original manga. Will I finish in time? Hard to say. I've been in the mood to finish the demo for my triangle game. The next build of the game I'm going to package will include the full demo.

Unrelated to the demo, which is important, but in the time since I finished all the story levels, I've worked on a bunch of extra assets and features. Some of this stuff I was planning to add after launch, but since I have time now, I might as well work on it. Two planned DLC packs are going to be included at launch for free.* One involves all the levels I made during development for one reason or another. The second will be a collection of experiments, each based around one concept.

That's about all the important stuff for me to report on. Ultimate Minecraft Polyworld continues on track.

Thank you all for reading. Bye!

*Even though the built-in launch DLC will be free, the price of the game at launch will be higher than I originally planned. Had I released the game shortly after the story levels were completed and I finished any other necessity, then it would have launched with the intended price. Now that I have a bunch of extra content, I plan on releasing with a higher price based on the value I feel all this extra stuff is worth. In the end, I feel this is a good decision because it means there will be more content people can enjoy out of the box.
